Starting the morning off with God is the key to strength and success in your day. Good morning! Today is Saturday, August 2, 2025. Please join me in praying the morning offering prayer and prayers for our Holy Father. In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen. O Jesus, through the Immaculate Heart of Mary, I offer you my prayers, works, joys, and sufferings of this day, for all the intentions of your Sacred Heart, in union with the holy sacrifice of the Mass throughout the world, for the salvation of souls, the reparation of sins, the reunion of all Christians, and in particular, for the holy intentions of the Holy Father this month. Amen. Prayers for the Holy Father Almighty and everlasting God, Have mercy upon thy servant, Pope Leo XIV, our Supreme Pontiff, and direct him, according to thy lovingkindness, in the way of eternal salvation, that of thy gift he may ever desire that which is pleasing unto thee, and may accomplish it with all his might. Through Christ our Lord. Amen. Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen. Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou amongst women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen. Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen. In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen. Quote from Saint John Bosco Many people in authority oppose us, persecute us, and would like even to destroy us, but we must be patient. Meditation of the Day, an excerpt from Preparation for Death by St. Alphonsus Liguori, pages 106-108 Let us consider the soul's appearance before God, the accusation, the examination, and the sentence. And first, with regard to the appearance of the soul before the judge, it is a common opinion amongst theologians that the particular judgment takes place at the very moment in which a man expires, and that in the very place where the soul is separated from the body, she is judged by Jesus Christ who will not send but will come himself to judge her cause. At what hour you think not the Son of Man will come? Luke 12, verse 40 For the just he will come in love, says St. Augustine, for the wicked in terror. Oh, what terror will he feel who beholds his Redeemer for the first time and beholds him in his wrath! Who shall stand before the face of his indignation? Nahum 1.6 Reflecting upon this, Fr. Louis de Pont trembled so as to shake his cell. The Venerable Father Juvenal Encina, on hearing the Dies Irae sung, at the thought of the terror which the soul will feel on being presented before the judgment seat, resolved to leave the world, which resolution he carried into effect. The sight of the wrath of the judge will be a forerunner of condemnation. St. Bernard says that the soul will suffer more then in seeing the indignation of Jesus than in being in hell itself. They shall look on him whom they pierced. John chapter 19 verse 37 That lamb, who in life had so much patience, the soul will then behold him enraged, without any hope of appeasing him. She will then call upon the mountains to fall upon her, and thus hide her from the fury of the wrathful lamb. Fall upon us and hide us from the wrath of the lamb. Apocalypse chapter 6 verse 16 St. Luke, speaking of the judgment, says, Then they shall see the Son of Man. Luke chapter 21 verse 27 O what torment will it be to the sinner to behold the Judge in the form of man! Because the sight of him who as a man died for his salvation will upbraid him the more forcibly with his ingratitude. When the Savior ascended into heaven, the angel said to the disciples, This Jesus, who has taken up from you into heaven, shall so come as you have seen him going into heaven. Acts 1.2 The judge will then come with the same wounds with which he left the earth. Great joy to the beholders, great terror to those who are in expectation, says the abbot Rupert. Those wounds shall console the just and terrify the wicked. O my Jesus, I will always call thee Jesus. Thy name consoles me, encourages me, reminding me that thou art my Savior who died for my salvation. Behold me at thy feet. I acknowledge that I have deserved hell as often as I have offended thee by mortal sin. I am unworthy of pardon, but thou hast died to obtain my pardon. Make haste then, my Jesus, to pardon me before thou comest to judge me. I can then no longer ask for mercy, but I can now ask for it and hope to obtain it. Thy wounds will then fill me with terror, but now they give me confidence. My dear Redeemer, I grieve about all other evils for having offended thy infinite goodness. I resolve to accept every pain and every loss rather than to lose thy grace. I love thee with all my heart. Have pity on me. Have mercy upon me according to thy great mercy. O Mary, Mother of mercy, advocate of sinners, obtain for me a great sorrow for my sins, and pardon Scripture verse of the day. Deuteronomy chapter 31, verse 6. Saint of the day. The saint of the day for August 2nd is Blessed Jane of Aza. Blessed Jane of Aza lived in the 12th century. She is also known as Joanna or Juana of Aza, and she belonged to the Spanish nobility. At a young age, she married a nobleman and together they had five children. She was a pious woman known for her life of prayer and generosity to the poor. When her two eldest sons were given to the priesthood, She went to the nearby church of St. Dominic Silos, a miracle worker and a patron saint of pregnant women, to pray earnestly for another son who would carry on the succession of the family. In a dream, the saint appeared to her and said that she would bear a son who would be a shining light to the church. She also dreamed of a dog that leaped from her womb, carrying a torch in its mouth, lighting all the world on fire. She gave birth to a son in answer to her prayers, and in gratitude named him Dominic. She brought her son to the altar of St. Dominic's silos, and there offered him to God. At the child's baptism, his godmother saw a star shining from his forehead. All of these signs were taken to mean that the child would be great. Jane brought her son up with the utmost care, and as the child grew, he evidenced uncommon sanctity and virtue. When Dominic turned age seven, Jane generously gave him to be educated as a priest, leaving her family without a male heir. St. Dominic went on to found the famous Order of Preachers, or Dominicans, who became known as the Hounds of the Lord, a great preaching order against heresy and in defense of the Catholic faith. Blessed Jane of Ossa, pray for us. Prayer of Spiritual Communion In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen. Amen. Morning Glory Consecration Prayer Prayer to Saint Joseph O glorious Saint Joseph, chosen by God to be the guardian of the Holy Family, whose protection is so great, so strong, in union with the Blessed Virgin Mary and our Savior Jesus Christ, send down from heaven a blessing from God to protect us from any harm, strengthen us in body, soul, and spirit. We ask this through thy powerful intercession. Holy Family, pray for us. Amen. Guardian Angel Prayer O angel of God, my guardian dear, to whom God's love commits me here, ever this day be at my side, to light and guard, to rule and guide. Amen. Prayer to Saint Michael the Archangel Saint Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle. Be our protection against the wickedness and snares of the devil. May God rebuke him, we humbly pray. And do thou, O Prince of the Heavenly Host, by the power of God, cast into hell Satan and all the evil spirits, who prowl throughout the world, seeking the ruin of souls. Amen. The Three Hail Marys Devotion The first Hail Mary, in honor of God the Father. Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou amongst women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen. The second Hail Mary, in honor of God the Son. Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou amongst women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen. The third Hail Mary, in honor of God the Holy Spirit. Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou amongst women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen. O my mother, preserve my soul from mortal sin during this day. Amen. Memorare to the Blessed Virgin Mary. Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary, that never was it known that anyone who fled to thy protection, implored thy help, or sought thy intercession, was left unaided. Inspired by this confidence, I fly unto thee, O Virgin of virgins, my mother. To thee do I come, before thee I stand, sinful and sorrowful. O Mother of the Word Incarnate, despise not my petitions, but in thy mercy hear and answer me. Amen. Oh my God, I firmly believe that you are one God in three divine persons, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. I believe that your divine Son became man, died for our sins, and that he will come to judge the living and the dead. I believe these and all the truths which the Holy Catholic Church teaches, because you have revealed them, who can neither deceive nor be deceived. In this faith I intend to live and die. Amen. Act of Hope Oh my God, relying on your almighty power, infinite mercy and promises, I hope to obtain pardon for my sins, the help of your grace, and a life everlasting, through the merits of Jesus Christ, my Lord and Redeemer. Amen. Act of Love Oh my God, I love you above all things, with my whole heart and soul, because you are all good and worthy of all love. Prayer for the Poor Souls in Purgatory O gentle heart of Jesus, ever present in the blessed sacrament, ever consumed with burning love for the poor captive souls in purgatory, have mercy on them. Be not severe in thy judgment, but let some drops of thy precious blood fall upon the devouring flames. Merciful Savior, send thy angels to conduct them to a place of refreshment, light, and peace. Amen. Act of Resignation to the Divine Will In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen. Starting the morning off with God is the key to strength and success in your day.
