Starting the morning off with God is the key to strength and success in your day. Good morning. Today is Monday, october twenty seventh, twenty twenty five. Please join me in praying the morning offering prayer and prayers for our Holy Father. In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, amen. O Jesus, through the Immaculate Heart of Mary, I offer you my prayers, works, joys, and sufferings of this day, for all the intentions of your sacred heart, in union with the holy sacrifice of the Mass throughout the world, for the salvation of souls, the reparation of sins, the reunion of all Christians, and in particular for the holy intentions of the Holy Father this month, amen. Prayers for the Holy Father Almighty and everlasting God, have mercy upon thy servant, Pope Leo XV, our supreme pontiff, and direct him according to thy loving kindness in the way of eternal salvation, that of thy gift he may ever desire that which is pleasing unto thee, and may accomplish it with all his might, through Christ our Lord, amen. Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil, amen. Meditation of the Day, an excerpt from In the School of the Holy Spirit by Father Jacques Philippe, page thirty three. Many things happen that God does not will, but he still permits them in his wisdom, and they remain a stumbling block or scandal to our minds. God asks us to do all we can to eliminate evil, but despite our efforts, there is always a whole set of circumstances which we can do nothing about, which are not necessarily willed by God, but nevertheless are permitted by Him, and which God invites us to consent to, trustingly and peacefully, even if they make us suffer and cause us problems. We are not being asked to consent to evil, but to consent to the mysterious wisdom of God who permits evil. Our consent is not a compromise with evil, but the expression of our trust that God is stronger than evil. This is a form of obedience that is painful but very fruitful. Scripture verse of the day. So then the Lord Jesus, after he had spoken to them, was taken up into heaven and sat down at the right hand of God. And they went out and proclaimed the good news everywhere, while the Lord worked with them and confirmed the message by the signs that accompanied it. Mark chapter 16 verses 19 through 20. Saint of the day. The saint of the day for October 27th is Blessed Bartholomew of Vicenza. Blessed Bartholomew of Vicenza lived between 1201 and 1270. He was also known as Bartholomew of Braganca or Braganza. He was born to a noble family in Vicenza, Italy. While studying in Padua, he entered the newly established Dominican Order as one of their first friars, receiving the habit from Saint Dominic himself. Bartholomew quickly advanced to positions of prominence within the order, becoming prior and then overseeing several convents. He was sent to preach against the heretics in Lombardy and was so successful that in twelve thirty five the Holy Father made him master of the sacred palace, an office known as the Pope's Theologian, a position which was first held by Saint Dominic. In this role he also founded a military order of knights for the purpose of maintaining civil order and peace throughout Italy, called the Order of the Knights of the Mother of God, or the Knights of Saint Mary. He was later made Bishop of Cyprus and also served as papal legate and confessor to Saint Louis, King of France, who was then leading a crusade in the Holy Land. From this friendship, Bartholomew received the gift of a relic of the true cross and a thorn from the crown of thorns. When Bartholomew returned to his native Vicenza as the city's bishop, he built a church to house the precious relics called the Church of the Holy Crown. Blessed Bartholomew of Vicenza was an effective mediator between the factions and feuds of his day, even converting the leader of a heretical party back to the Catholic faith. Blessed Bartholomew of Vicenza, pray for us. Devotion of the Month October is the month of the Holy Rosary. The Catholic Church designates October as the month of the Holy Rosary. During this month, the faithful venerate the Blessed Virgin Mary, especially under her title of Our Lady of the Rosary, and make special effort to honor the Holy Rosary with group recitations and rosary processions. Saint Dominic de Guzman, the founder of the Order of Preachers, is the saint to whom our lady famously appeared and gave the prayers of the Holy Rosary to assist him as a spiritual weapon in combating heresy and leading souls back to the one true Catholic faith. Readings for Holy Mass The thirtieth Sunday in Ordinary Time a reading from Sirac chapter thirty five verses twelve through fourteen and sixteen through eighteen. The Lord is a God of justice who knows no favorites, though not unduly partial toward the weak, yet he hears the cry of the oppressed. The Lord is not deaf to the wail of the orphan, nor to the widow when she pours out her complaint. The one who serves God willingly is heard, his petition reaches the heavens. The prayer of the lowly pierces the clouds, it does not rest till it reaches its goal, nor will it withdraw till the most high responds, judges justly, and affirms the right, and the Lord will not delay. The Word of the Lord Responsorial Psalm Psalm thirty four The Lord hears the cry of the poor. I will bless the Lord at all times, his praise shall be ever in my mouth. Let my soul glory in the Lord, the lowly will hear me and be glad. The Lord hears the cry of the poor. The Lord confronts the evil doers to destroy remembrance of them from the earth. When the just cry out, the Lord hears them, and from all their distress he rescues them. The Lord hears the cry of the poor. The Lord is close to the broken hearted, and those who are crushed in spirit he saves. The Lord redeems the lives of his servants, no one incurs guilt who takes refuge in him. The Lord hears the cry of the poor. A reading from the second letter of Saint Paul to Timothy, chapter four verses six through eight and sixteen through eighteen. Beloved, I am already being poured out like a libation, and the time of my departure is at hand. I have competed well, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. From now on the crown of righteousness awaits me, which the Lord, the just judge, will award to me on that day, and not only to me, but to all who have longed for his appearance. At my first defense no one appeared on my behalf, but everyone deserted me. May it not be held against them. But the Lord stood by me and gave me strength, so that through me the proclamation might be completed and all the Gentiles might hear it. And I was rescued from the lion's mouth. The Lord will rescue me from every evil threat and will bring me safe to his heavenly kingdom. To him be glory for ever and ever, amen. The Word of the Lord A reading from the Holy Gospel according to Luke, chapter eighteen verses nine through fourteen. Jesus addressed this parable to those who were convinced of their own righteousness and despised everyone else. Two people went up to the temple area to pray, one was a Pharisee and the other was a tax collector. The Pharisee took up his position and spoke this prayer to himself. O God, I thank you that I am not like the rest of humanity, greedy, dishonest, adulterous, or even like this tax collector. I fast twice a week, and I pay tithes on my whole income. But the tax collector stood off at a distance and would not even raise his eyes to heaven, and beat his breast and prayed, O God, be merciful to me a sinner. I tell you, the latter went home justified, not the former, for whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and the one who humbles himself will be exalted. The Gospel of the Lord Prayer of Spiritual Communion In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, amen. My Jesus, I believe that you are present in the most blessed sacrament. I love you above all things, and I desire to receive you into my soul. Since I cannot now receive you sacramentally, come at least spiritually into my heart. I embrace you as if you were already there, and unite myself wholly to you. Never permit me to be separated from you. Amen. Morning Glory Consecration Prayer Mary, my mother, I give myself totally to you as your possession and property. Please make of me, of all that I am and have, whatever most pleases you. Let me be a fit instrument in your immaculate and merciful hands for bringing the greatest possible glory to God. Amen. Prayer to Saint Joseph. O glorious Saint Joseph, chosen by God to be the guardian of the Holy Family, whose protection is so great, so strong, in union with the Blessed Virgin Mary and our Savior Jesus Christ, send down from heaven a blessing from God to protect us from any harm, strengthen us in body, soul, and spirit. We ask this through thy powerful intercession. Holy Family, pray for us, amen. Guardian Angel Prayer O angel of God, my guardian dear, to whom God's love commits me here, ever this day be at my side, to light and guard, to rule and guide, amen. Prayer to Saint Michael the Archangel. Saint Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle, be our protection against the wickedness and snares of the devil. May God rebuke him we humbly pray, and do thou, O prince of the heavenly host, by the power of God, cast into hell Satan and all the evil spirits who prowl throughout the world, seeking the ruin of souls, amen. The three Hail Mary's Devotion The first Hail Mary in honor of God the Father. Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. O my mother, preserve my soul from mortal sin during this day. Amen. Memori to the Blessed Virgin Mary. Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary, that never was it known that anyone who fled to thy protection, implored thy help, or sought thy intercession, was left unaided. Inspired by this confidence I fly unto thee, O Virgin of Virgins, my mother, to thee do I come, before thee I stand, sinful and sorrowful. O mother of the Word incarnate, despise not my petitions, but in thy mercy hear and answer me. Amen. Act of Faith. O my God, I firmly believe that you are one God in three divine persons, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. I believe that your divine Son became man, died for our sins, and that He will come to judge the living and the dead. I believe these and all the truths which the Holy Catholic Church teaches, because you have revealed them, who can neither deceive nor be deceived. In this faith I intend to live and die. Amen. Act of hope. O my God, relying on your almighty power, infinite mercy and promises, I hope to obtain pardon for my sins, the help of your grace, and the life everlasting, through the merits of Jesus Christ, my Lord and Redeemer. Amen. Act of love. O my God, I love you above all things with my whole heart and soul, because you are all good and worthy of all love. I love my neighbor as myself for the love of you. I forgive all who have injured me and ask pardon of all whom I have injured. Amen. Prayer for the poor souls in purgatory. O gentle heart of Jesus, ever present in the Blessed Sacrament, ever consumed with burning love for the poor captive souls in purgatory, have mercy on them. Be not severe in thy judgment, but let some drops of thy precious blood fall upon the devouring flames. Merciful Savior, send thy angels to conduct them to a place of refreshment, light, and peace. Amen. Act of resignation to the divine will. O Lord my God, from this moment do I accept from thy hands with burning love and sincere contrition, with a calm and willing disposition, whatsoever death thou shalt choose to send me with its pains and griefs.
